anybody familiar with the ghetto tensiner tool. Is it like a screw in, compress the tensioner to give slack to the belt, move it over one tooth, since thats what im off, then back it out. In a nutshell?

Dont mean to thread jack but since this thread is about timing belts, does anyone know if you HAVE to losen the nut on the tensioner pulley when puting the timing belt back on? Can you just leave it compress the tensioner using the tool and be done with it?
