So finally got tired of peg legging fwd, and decided to do what I said I was gonna do for close to two years. Last weekend with the help of Sam and support of my gf I completed the swap. Friday night we disassembled the fwy chassis. About 40 mins in that was done, the next hour was spent cutting out the fwd gas tank mounts. Saturday got up early, and started cutting out the rear subframe bolts and ran into a problem with accidentally cutting a brake hardline . So on to the transmission and tcase swap I moved.Sunday woke up earlyagain... And repaired the busted hardline with an ss piece and double flares on the hardline. Mounted the gas tank, rear subframe and then Sam started on he downpipe. Then moved onto welding in the driveshaft carrier brackets. Since I can't do much with a mig except tac, I had Sam weld. Car caught on fire during the welding so I ended up on fire duty inside the car while Sam welded lol. Once that was done I mounted the rear subframe and suspension components. Sunday night I fired her up and did some awd donuts to make sure everything was working fine. Gotta say I'm loving see so far, not only did traction in a straight line improve, but I'm loving turning in my awd. I gotta say it was a huge pia swap but totally worth it. Ill post up some pics when I get a chance. |
