whats up guys? Well i have a 96 gst and for a while i have had this weird popping when ever i go WOT. it only happens when i go WOT but when i easy into it, it doesn't happen. spark plugs are new and gaped properly, wires, transistor pack and coils are all new, and i don't have a boost leak. I've researched and found many different answers usually being something to do with spark plugs or wires but they have been changed frequently and the popping still happens. don't really have major mods just intake,2.5 down pipe to 3in exhaust (no cat), fmic, and a small 16g turbo. all suggestion are very appreciated. thanks guys Rick |

I'm having the same issue as you are rick. Mine does it if I go WOT on first really fast but if I go WOT while just pressing the gas pedal in slowly it doesn't do it. Couple people told me it can be my fuel filter is clogged. |

Do u have a way to log your WOT pulls Check for knock or if you're going lean If I were you I would change the fuel filter and the plug wires and go from there |

02 sensor does jack shit at WOT. The ECu totally ignores the sensor like a ugly - retarded red headed step child. Go fish. when you say "gapped properly" and "new plugs" what kind of plugs, and what are they gapped to? Also, how old is your knock sensor? Check to see if its dead, also, any logs at all? when did this start happening? What fuel injectors. maf hacked? What are you using for engine management? Also, I'm drunk as FUCK!! and probably can still solve this.....

the spark plugs are ngk's BPR7ES and are gaped at .028. this started happening about 6 or 7 mouths ago. i have no way to log (no job, no money  ) my injectors are stock. and the maft is hacked, the center and lower honeycombs are gone but when i bought another maft and swapped it out, the car ran like shit. so i just put my old one in. oh and the knock senor is stock. the car is basically stock just need it to get me from A-B until i can get a job.

Check if the knock sensor is dead or loose. Reach back behind the block and feel it. If there is goo coming out of it it is dead, if it is loose it will be way to sensitive. |

If you just need to get from point A to B i think that's what the cars doing now. Check what everyone else has already mentioned, and get someway to log your car. It is not only useful for tuning but helps you out when diagnosing a problem. |
