Ok, so I am installing a set of polyurethane Prothane mounts. And I already pressed them into spare brackets that I picked up. I got the engine side mount in, but now working on the passenger/tranny mount that sits under the battery area. I unbolted everything, but the bracket does not want to come out, When I try lowering the tranny, it just sits on the support bar, not leaving enough room to remove the bracket. So does that mean I have to remove the supoort bar under the tranny or is there some other trick to removing the tranny mount? Thanks. David. |

Unbolt the 4 nuts that hold the mount to the trans. Then remove big 17mm through bolt. |

ok, well I didn't have enough clearence so I removed the crossmember. Was much easier then I thought. I already have the two sides and rear mount installed, just came in for a break before I go back out to finish the job. Man that rear mount is a PITA!!!! but glad it's done. About a week ago my engine side mount went out (cracked in three directions) so I installed a stock replacement, however the mount already destroyed my axle. So I replaced the axle and then decided to updgrade the mounts, so I got the prothane ones. After inspecting the mounts I'm glad I replaced the tranny mount since it was beginning to crack just like the engine mount. David. |
